Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 12: Josh Reynolds, Chris Conley among notable free agent pickups after Chiefs-Rams shootout

Fantasy football owners are not going to forget Monday night's Chiefs-Rams box score for a long time. What will stand out the most? Todd Gurley having his worst game of the year? Possibly. Both D/STs somehow having legit fantasy value? Could happen. Josh Reynolds, Chris Conley, and Gerald Everett cementing their places as sleepers to own for the fantasy playoffs? Probably not for all of them, but you never know. And while only Reynolds stands out as one of the top Week 12 fantasy waiver wire pickups along with guys like Gus Edwards, Josh Adams, Tre'Quan Smith, and even Lamar Jackson, both Conley and Everett are in play as free agent adds after waiver claims clear around 4-5 a.m. ET on Wednesday in Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

With regular seasons winding down and the playoffs almost here, our full free agent list is loaded with solid bench options and streamers. The Chiefs and Rams may be the only teams on bye in Week 12, but you still might need to find a one-week fill-in, even at TE and D/ST (those positions can be found at the end of the list). We're not exactly overflowing with option at those spots, but there are at least a few with good matchups who might be better than your current starters this week. The same goes for WR and even QB. If you had Greg Zuerlein or Harrison Butker, you can check out our Week 12 kicker rankings. (We have an anonymous support group for people who look at fantasy kicker rankings that meets every Wednesday night.)

This will undoubtedly be a busy week on the wire as owners get ready for their final pushes. Edwards and Adams look like they could be legit starting RBs (emphasis on "could" for Edwards), and Smith and Reynolds have WR3 written all over them (along with D.J. Moore, Keke Coutee, and a few others). Now's the time to grab handcuffs and high-upside backups on the free agent wire, as well as look ahead a week or two at matchups so you're prepared for whatever comes your way.

Top fantasy football waiver wire pickups and free agent adds for Week 12

Unless otherwise noted, only players owned in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues considered.

Josh Reynolds, WR, Rams. Sharp owners grabbed Reynolds after Cooper Kupp's season-ending knee injury last week, but he's still available in 55 percent of Yahoo leagues. Even with the Rams on bye in Week 12, he'll be scooped up this week. With solid matchups in Weeks 13-15 (@ DET, @ CHI, vs. PHI) -- plus his role as the No. 3 receiver in a matchup-proof offense -- Reynolds is a great add for the fantasy playoffs. He showed his worth in Week 11 with six catchers for 80 yards and a TD on eight targets.

MORE WEEK 12: Full waiver list

Chris Conley, WR, Chiefs. Conley's value is contingent on Sammy Watkins (foot) being out, and even then he's no sure thing. But he showed in Week 11 (7-74, two TDs) he can have value in Kansas City's high-powered attack. After the Chiefs Week 12 bye, KC faces the Raiders, Ravens, Chargers, and Seahawks in Weeks 13-16. It's unclear when (or if) Watkins will be back, so if nothing else, Conley is worth grabbing as a free agent for that Week 13 matchup in Oakland, as Watkins didn't look close to 100 percent after his early exit in Week 11.

WEEK 12 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiverTight end

Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington, RBs, Raiders. With Doug Martin injuring his ankle in Week 11, Richard and Washington both have FLEX upside in Week 12 against the Ravens. The two split touches almost equally against Arizona (11 carries, three receptions for Richard; 12 carries for Washington), with Richard obviously being the preferred receiving option. Richard also outgained Washington 61 to 39 on the ground, so he would have more value, but clearly both will see playing time. Against the Ravens on the road, that might not mean much, but starting RBs are invaluable this time of year, so now's the time to grab Richard and Washington. Oakland faces Kansas City in Week 13 and Cincinnati in Week 15, so if Martin is out for any significant length of time, Richard and Washington could really pay off.

WEEK 12 DFS CASH LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKings

LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick, RBs, Lions. Much like Richard and Washington, Blount and Riddick are set to split touches in the Lions backfield with Kerryon Johnson injuring his knee. In this case, we know Johnson will miss time, and we know both backs' roles. Blount will handle the majority of carries and Riddick will see a few carries and a bunch of targets. Against the Bears in Week 12, that might not result in many fantasy points, but Blount is in play as a TD-or-bust FLEX in standard leagues and Riddick is certainly a high-upside FLEX in PPR leagues. Looking ahead, Detroit faces the Rams, Cardinals, and Bills in Weeks 13-15, all of which qualify as favorable matchups for RBs, so grab these backs now.
