Thanksgiving DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Thursday daily fantasy football contests

Thanksgiving can only mean one thing: Small-slate NFL DFS contests. What, you thought it was family or food? Nah, it's all about daily fantasy football and winning big in GPP tournaments. Our lineup picks for this Thursday's DraftKings contests only make use of two of the three games, but when the Falcons are playing the Saints, we honestly might have only needed one. Well, maybe a second for D/ST.

Overall, we didn't get too cute with our lineup. A high-priced Saints onslaught is the key to our lineup, and we're stacking multiple pieces of the Detroit and Atlanta passing games. Our biggest worry is at D/ST, but with the Cowboys commanding a high salary, we opted for a cheaper home alternative and will hope for a big play or two. On a three-game slate -- well, two-game slate for us -- you're going to have to take a few chances like that, especially in GPPs

Thanksgiving DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS GPP lineup for Thursday

QB Drew Brees, Saints vs. Falcons ($6,700). There's no need to overthink this one. Drew Brees is the best QB on the slate with the highest floor and highest ceiling. Sure, he costs $600 more than Matt Ryan and -- and there's always a worry of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara scoring a bunch ofTDs on the ground -- but Brees is well worth the money and the "risk".

RB Alvin Kamara, Saints vs. Falcons ($8,300). Atlanta allows the most receptions per game to RBs (8.4), so it's not a surprise it allows the most overall DK points to the position. With Mark Ingram overshadowing Kamara last week, it seems almost probable that Kamara will shine brighter this week. And for what it's worth, Kamara being "overshadowed" still resulted in 108 total yards and a TD last week.

RB Tarik Cohen, Bears @ Lions ($5,300). Detroit has been steadily improving against RBs over the past few weeks, and that was on display against Chicago in Week 10 when it limited Cohen and Jordan Howard to a combined 36 rushing yards on 18 carries. Cohen still got into the end zone in that game, but it's more likely he does damage as a receiver. He's seen 11 targets (nine receptions) the past two games to go along with 14 carries (42 yards). His big-play potential and high target total makes him a prime GPP play. UPDATE: Even without Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago should still move the ball, and Trubisky's absence might actually mean more touches for Chicago RBs.

WEEK 12 DFS CASH LINEUPS: YahooFanDuelDraftKings

WR Michael Thomas, Saints vs. Falcons ($8,900). As is the case with Brees, there's no need to overthink this. Thomas is the most expensive WR on the slate, but that's because he's a lock to produce. He posted a 10-129 line against Atlanta back in Week 3, and he could easily produce similar results this week.

WR Mohamed Sanu, Falcons @ Saints ($4,500). We want at least one piece of the Atlanta side of the ball in the Falcons-Saints game, and Sanu is the cheapest way to do that. His floor is solid, though, as he's posted at least five targets in three straight games. New Orleans gave up a TD to Sanu back in Week 3, and the Falcons figure to give him plenty of opportunities as they try to keep up with New Orleans.

WEEK 12 DFS GPP LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKings

WR Kenny Golladay, Lions vs. Bears ($6,400). Detroit's new No. 1 receiver has seen 27 targets the past two games, including 13 in Week 10 against Chicago. He likely won't have the benefit of playing opposite of Marvin Jones this week, but it won't matter. Golladay will be force fed the ball like Calvin Johnson was back in the day, and that will almost certainly result in fantasy points, even if Chicago plays well against him early.

TE Austin Hooper, Falcons @ Saints ($4,200). It's slim pickings at TE this Thursday, so despite the statistically tough matchup, we're going with Hooper, who's seen 19 targets the past two games. As with Sanu, we want pieces of the Falcons passing game, and since we can't afford Julio Jones (and have reservations about Calvin Ridley), we're instead opting for Sanu and Hooper.

MORE WEEK 12 DFS: Values | StacksLineup Builder

FLEX Bruce Ellington, Lions vs. Bears ($3,200). Ellington saw nine targets last week with Marvin Jones (knee) sidelined, and it seems likely Jones will miss this week's game. There's a good chance Ellington will be Detroit's No. 2 receiving option again, and you know the Lions will have to throw to move the ball. Ellington could really rack up the catches in this PPR format, regardless of whether Detroit is leading or trailing big.

DEF Detroit Lions vs. Bears ($2,400). The Lions were known as a big-play defense last year, but it hasn't carried over to 2018. Even so, the extremely short week for Chicago (Sunday night game, early afternoon Thursday road game) should help the Lions, who showed some life last week and usually come to play on Thanksgiving, at least early on.
