Week 13 DraftKings Picks: Best lineup stacks for NFL DFS tournaments, cash games

Written By Bennett Bedford

Week 13 might be the best NFL DFS slate that we’ve seen thus far this season. We are done with bye weeks, and after a few slates that lacked the top-end offenses, we have the Chiefs, Rams, Panthers, Buccaneers, Colts, Packers, and Patriots offense all in play this week in plus matchups, so you know there will be plenty of stacking opportunities for daily fantasy football contests.

There are a number of running backs who are in excellent spots this week and in my opinion, virtually all of the high-volume backs are underpriced on DraftKings. Strap-in, this is going to be a good one.

The Week 12 DraftKings Perfect Lineup Review only featured one stack, and it was the rare WR-WR variety. That's the exception, not the rule. Almost every week we see a QB-pass catcher(s) stack or onslaught, and chances are we'll see one this week. Figuring out which one will be the most profitable is where RotoQL's DFS tools can help. With floor and ceiling projections, correlations, value ratings, and Vegas lines, building winning lineups has never been easier.

Week 13 NFL DFS Strategy: Top DraftKings stacks for cash games

QB Jameis Winston and WR Adam Humphries, Buccaneers vs. Panthers

The first place I’m looking to start in cash games this week is a with a cheap wide receiver to provide the salary relief that we’ll need for the high-end running backs that are going to take priority. Lions WR Bruce Ellington makes a lot of sense at $3,500 on DraftKings, but I slightly favor Humphries, who has been the Bucs second-best wide receiver behind Mike Evans this season. Humphries has been a model of consistency for Tampa over the past eight weeks, posting a plus/minus of plus-6.1 with zero ‘dud’ games during that time frame.

Winston looks to finally be reestablishing himself as the starter for the Bucs after another solid start last week in their win over the 49ers. Winston has been excellent for fantasy purposes this season and has such a high floor given the amount of passing volume that he is forced into every week. Winston has a great matchup against the Panthers, who rank 27th DvP against quarterbacks, in a game that has the highest total on the slate at 56 points.

WEEK 13 DFS CASH LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKings

QB Cam Newton and RB Christian McCaffrey, Panthers @ Buccaneers

The Newton-to-McCaffrey money train rolled on last week and peaked with a 85 fantasy point showing against the Seahawks. I’m looking to go right back to the combination again this week in an even better matchup against the defensively inept Buccaneers. McCaffrey had one of the best games that we’ve seen out of any player this season last week, going over 100 rushing and receiving yards a nd adding two touchdowns. Going back a few more weeks, we can see that McCaffrey has been the best running back in DFS, posting a plus/minus of plus-15.7 and averaging an absurd 32.2 fantasy points per game. McCaffrey’s price has risen to $8,800 on DraftKings, but that is still way too cheap given his usage in the passing game and increased red-zone role. I would gladly pay upwards of $9,500 for CMC in the spot.

As for Cam, he continues to be excellent for the Panthers this season and has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league. Newton has posted zero ‘dud’ games this season with a 73-percent consistency rating. The only concern here is Newton has somewhat struggled against Tampa Bay, posting a plus/minus of minus-3.6 over their last three matchups.

RB Todd Gurley and WR Brandin Cooks, Rams @ Lions

Pairing a RB and WR together isn’t a strategy that you want to lean on heavily in tournaments given they typically have a negative correlation, but for cash games it’s a perfectly fine strategy where you don’t need the highest of high ceilings. The Rams have been a team that I’ve looked to stack up Gurley with one of their wideouts all year long. Doing this with an offense that has such a condensed offense gives you an excellent floor while still giving you the high end upside that you might need given how expensive the stack is.

Gurley has had a down couple of games but is in a perfect get-right spot this week coming off the Rams bye week against the Lions. Gurley has been automatic on the road this season, posting a plus/minus of plus-9.1. For the wide receiver pairing you can realistically look to any of the Rams top three pass catchers, but for me, I like Cooks, whose price has yet to fully adjust to his expanded role in the offense following the loss of Cooper Kupp. Cooks is averaging 10 targets per game over the past four games and has gone over 100 yards receiving in three straight. His matchup against the Lions secondary might also be the best on the slate, as they have allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers over the past three weeks.

Week 13 DraftKings Picks: Best stacks for daily fantasy football GPPs/tournaments

QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Kareem Hunt, and WR Tyreek Hill, Chiefs @ Raiders

Kicking off the top tournament stacks of the week is the Chiefs onslaught of Mahomes, Hunt, and Hill. Sure, I and everyone else  would love to get all of these guys into a cash lineup, but their collective price is more restrictive this week than it has been previously in a perfect matchup against the Raiders. The combined price tag of $24,500 will take up almost half of your salary cap on DraftKings, but it’s hard to say that the trio isn’t worth it given their insane 120-plus fantasy point upside.

Hunt is likely the top play of the three and is the one who I’m looking to go most overweight on, but it’s hard to ignore just how much upside Hill has in this spot. Hill has been incredible on the road over the past two years, and at some point you can no longer dismiss these stats as variance. Hill has a plus/minus of plus-11.1 with a 71-percent consistency rating on the road -- numbers which plument to a plus/minus of minus-1.4 with a 36-percent consistency rating at home.

QB Matthew Stafford, WR Bruce Ellington, and WR Kenny Golladay, Lions vs. Rams

While the Rams offense is likely to be one of the more popular team stacks on the slate, a nice way to get leverage is taking the opposite side of the matchup and loading up on the Lions passing game. Detroit comes into this matchup as huge 9.5-point home underdogs, and it’s very likely that Detroit will be forced to pass early and often to attempt to keep up with LA. The Lions offense has become one of the more condensed target shares in the league following the trade of Golden Tate and injury to Marvin Jones.

Kenny Golladay is one of the safest bets to see eight-plus targets, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him break into that 13-14 target range given the likely game script. Ellington has taken over the Golden Tate role in the offense and is one of the best values on the slate at $3,500 on DraftKings. Ellington is likely to be a popular option, but he should see six-plus targets with upside for more.

There's plenty of strategy that goes into putting together a winning DFS lineup, and the best place to start is RotoQL’s DFS tools. Our RotoQL's Lineup Optimizer is a massive advantage when you're building lineups, regardless of contest size or site.
