Yankees center fielder Brett Gardner was ejected and had to be restrained in a controversial incident in the Yankees' game against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Home-plate umpire Chris Segal ejected Gardner in the top of the fourth inning, apparently believing Gardner had been yelling at him from the dugout. Different camera angles suggested several other Yankees, not Gardner, were yelling at Segal.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone came out to ask who had been tossed. When Gardner realized he had been ejected, he seemed incredulous. He walked out of the dugout and appeared to be saying, "I didn't say anything — I didn't say one word."

The confrontation quickly escalated, and Boone had to repeatedly restrain Gardner from going after Segal.

Gardner was already livid over pitch calls in a previous at-bat and had shown his displeasure by banging his bat on the dugout roof.
