A photo of a tomato mesmerized the internet over the weekend because of its uncanny resemblance to Celtics legend Larry Bird.

But was the comparison unkind? ESPN's Jeff Van Gundy thinks so.

Van Gundy reacted to the Bird tomato photo during Wednesday’s Nets vs. Celtics game:

"What is that?" questioned Van Gundy. "Oh, that's disrespectful. That guy was, what a competitor, what skill."

He and Mike Breen then went on to praise Bird’s incredible skill.

The moment is actually pretty hilarious when you consider it all stemmed from a photo of a tomato.
