Seahawks vs. Eagles final score: Seattle advances past injury-riddled Philadelphia

Written By Eli Boettger

The Eagles entered the NFL playoffs with several contributors hobbled and bruised, and the injury bug bit them again Sunday as they fell to the Seahawks 17-9 in the final game of wild-card weekend.

Already without Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, DeSean Jackson and Jordan Howard on offense, Philly's attack took another huge blow when quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a first-half head injury that forced backup Josh McCown under center.

Wentz took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Seahawks pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney in the first quarter. He was evaluated for a concussion and eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game. The 40-year-old McCown came on and made his playoff debut.

McCown kept things afloat for Philadelphia (18-of-24 passing, 174 yards), but he was sacked six times and failed to lead the Eagles into the end zone.

Russell Wilson and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf paced the Seahawks, converting seven of their nine targets for 160 yards and a touchdown. The duo provided two momentum-swinging plays, including Metcalf's 53-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter and a 36-yard connection to seal the victory.

The fifth-seeded Seahawks will head to Lambeau Field in Green Bay to battle the second-seeded Packers next Sunday in the NFC divisional round.
