It was announced in a press release that former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua will be opposing coaches of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4". The season will air on Globo in Brazil and UFC Fight Pass to the rest of the world starting in April of 2015.

During most seasons of TUF, the coaches fight at the end of the season, but Silva and Rua will not square off.

The former pound for pound king feels he will have a lot to offer the fighters.

"I think I can offer this next generation of Brazilian talent real insight into what it takes to succeed in the UFC," stated Silva in the press release. "I will bring everything I know about the martial arts, and my own values of what it means to be a martial artist, to my team."

Rua is looking forward to coaching alongside his former training partner and is ready to show the world what the sport is all about.

"To coach on The Ultimate Fighter Brazil is a dream come true, and an opportunity I wanted for a long time," Rua said. "To have my team compete against a team coached by a legend and former training partner like Anderson Silva makes it even better. Me and Anderson go a long way, training together back when we were both aiming to be stars, and to do this with him now on the biggest platform and having a chance to show people what MMA is really about is just amazing."

The UFC claims that nearly 600 lightweight and bantamweight hopefuls attended tryouts for the show, which took place on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This season of the show will start with 32 fighters, who will compete in elimination fights to narrow the field to 16. Those 16 will then travel to Las Vegas to film the rest of the season.

Silva returns to the cage against Nick Diaz in the main event at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 and Rua will battle Ovince Saint Preux in the headlining spot on Nov. 8 at UFC Fight Night 56.
