U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann named to FIFA Coach of the Year shortlist

U.S. national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has been named on the 10-man shortlist for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’s Football award.

Klinsmann led the U.S. to a Gold Cup victory in 2013, before eventually topping the six-team final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. The USA got out of its group at the World Cup in Brazil, before falling to Belgium in extra time in the round of 16.

On Dec. 1, the three finalists for the award will be announced, with the prize eventually being handed out in Zurich on Jan. 15.

The final decisions will be made by the captains and head coaches of the men’s national teams as well as by international media representatives selected by France Football.
