The Buffalo Creek gator might be golf's biggest celebrity at the moment.
Earlier this week, a video posted by a Florida golfer went viral. It showed an estimated 15-foot monster slowly ambling across the Palmetto, Fla., golf course.
Given the nature of the Internet, many questioned the video's authenticity. Politifact Florida set out to determine if the alligator existed and came to the conclusion that it did.
The Florida record for a gator is 14 feet, 3.5 inches, Politifact reported, citing the state's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
While no one has stepped up to measure the Buffalo Creek gator, course manager Ken Powell confirmed it calls the course home and said it prefers holes 3, 8 and 14.
