Juwan Howard is a hot name on the NBA coaching circuit. The former Heat assistant turned Michigan coach was expected to receive interest for various coaching jobs during the 2021 NBA offseason.

However, he won't be interviewing for any NBA team.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Howard is "not interested" in coming to the NBA. He'd prefer to stay with the Wolverines in Ann Arbor at this time.

This move makes sense for Howard. He has been highly successful in Michigan, posting a 42-17 combined record in two seasons and guiding the Wolverines to the Elite Eight in his first NCAA Tournament as a coach. He was named Sporting News' Coach of the Year as a result of his strong efforts during the 2020-21 college basketball season.

Howard could eventually make the jump to the NBA, but it seems that he's comfortable continuing in the college game. He has job security at Michigan given his performance and is in just the third season of a five-year contract worth an excess of $11 million.

Howard's son Jace is a rising sophomore for the Wolverines, and another son, Jett, who is a four-star guard in the class of 2022 who is expected to go to Michigan, which are two more reasons for him to want to stay in Ann Arbor. Howard may be more likely to jump back to the NBA when his sons are through playing at Michigan.
