Rudy Gay will exercise his $19.3 million option and remain with the Sacramento Kings for the final season of his deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports

While he has committed to another season in Sacramento, Gay will not discuss a possible contract extension until later this summer, according to the report.

Gay, who was traded to the Kings last season, is a top priority for the team, which is serious about building a contender.

After joining the Kings, Gay averaged 201. points on 48.2 percent shooting last season and provided enough to convince owner Vivek Ranadive that the team should be constructed around Gay and big man DeMarcus Cousins.

The team will be able to negotiate a four-year deal with Gay once free agency starts on July 1, but Gay has already been in contract with the team and is impressed with their efforts to keep him. Sacramento will need to commit to making large moves if it plans to contend in the Western Conference. The team was 28-54 last season.
