When LeBron James talks, the entire NBA world stops and listens. That was certainly the case Monday night in Los Angeles.

After the Lakers' thrilling 108-105 victory over the Heat, James embraced Dwyane Wade on the Staples Center floor. The future Hall of Famers will never face each other again in an NBA game with Wade planning to retire after the 2018-19 season, so they took time to appreciate the moment.

But then James let a little comment slide out that must have caused quite a reaction around New York City.

"It was either here or The Garden," James said. "That's it."

James referencing Madison Square Garden? He considered signing with the Knicks? The Knicks?!

OK, hold on. Knicks fans have experienced enough pain. Let's cut out the suspense.

It turns out James only meant his final battle with Wade deserved a legendary venue.

The Athletic's Joe Vardon reported Tuesday that James never viewed the Knicks as a real option when he became a free agent last summer. He considered the Lakers, Cavs and 76ers, ultimately deciding to don the purple and gold.

No worries, New Yorkers. It's a day full of good news. The Knicks never had a chance to sign the best player in the league!
