The Raptors own the NBA's best record (20-5) and are playing like a well-oiled machine since the summer acquisition of Kawhi Leonard. But their star point guard may be harboring feelings of resentment about the trade that sent DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio.

In an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, Kyle Lowry said he felt "betrayed" over the DeRozan-Leonard deal. Lowry and DeRozan became extremely close over their six seasons together in Toronto, and Lowry considers DeRozan his "best friend." It's no surprise the move would lead to frustration, especially after Raptors president Masai Ujiri may have given DeRozan the impression he wouldn't be traded.

"Yeah, I felt some type of way on the personal side," Lowry said. "It's a harsh business. It's a great business. But sometimes moves are made that you're like, 'Wow, that sucks.'"

Nichols asked Lowry about his status with Ujiri, and the exchange was, uh, brief.

Nichols: How would you define your relationship with Masai Ujiri right now?

Lowry: He's the president of basketball operations, and that's it. For me, I come here and do my job.

Nichols: That's an answer that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Lowry: He does his job, I do my job, right? That's what you do.

Nichols: That's where you guys stand?

Lowry: That's where we stand.

Ujiri later appeared on ESPN's "The Jump" to offer a response to Lowry's comments. He doesn't sound all that concerned.

Lowry may not send a birthday card to Ujiri next year, but players and executives don't need to get along for a team to succeed. Lowry and Leonard are playing at All-Star levels, and the Raptors are alone at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. As long as that doesn't change, Ujiri has nothing to worry about.
