And then there was one — one final set of College Football Playoff rankings, that is.

The CFP selection committee has only a handful of games left to determine its matchups for the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl semifinals, respectively. And, without a Notre Dame upset of Clemson — which the committee was praying wouldn't happen — it should be a fairly simple task.

After No. 1 Alabama (11-0) and No. 4 Ohio State (6-0) won the SEC and Big Ten title games, respectively, the only question that can affect the ordering of the top four teams is Notre Dame (10-1) vs. Texas A&M (8-1). A Clemson win in the ACC championship game likely drops the Irish to four and boosts Clemson to No. 2.

But the Aggies, whose only loss came to Alabama, made things interesting by blowing out Tennessee in their final game of the season.

Those arguments and scenarios will take center stage this weekend as college football finally concludes its regular season. With that in mind, here's what to know about the final CFP rankings release of 2020:

According to SN's post-Week 15 Playoff picture, that top four will be No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Clemson — the same top four since the Playoff began unveiling rankings — with Texas A&M and Cincinnati as the first teams out, respectively.
