If Alabama wants to attempt another long-distance field goal in the Iron Bowl, Nick Saban won't have to worry about it coming up short.
Eddy Pineiro, the nation's No. 1 junior college kicker, committed to Alabama earlier this month. He also had offers from Florida and Miami, and it's easy to see why. His range extends beyond 70 yards.
Broke my personal best record with a 73 yarder today! 🏈✊ pic.twitter.com/qmE5IVBNbW— Eddy Pineiro (@eddypineiro1) June 28, 2015
Pineiro played soccer for ASA College before impressing Saban at Alabama's specialist camp and earning a scholarship.
"We were out there kicking and coach called for four of us to go in the indoor facility to kick for Coach Saban," Pineiro told AL.com. "I won the kicking competition and felt like I was the best one on there. I handled the pressure and I'm ready to kick at the next level. The pressure didn't bother me. I just went in there and did what I was supposed to do."
The 6-1, 180-pound kicker doesn't lack confidence. With a leg like that, why would he?
