Jermichael Finley details when Packers should consider replacing 'tired' Aaron Rodgers with Jordan Love

Jermichael Finley knows Aaron Rodgers well. Finley spent his entire six-year NFL career with the Packers and served as one of Rodgers' top tight ends, making 48 starts in his 70 games played.

But the version of Rodgers that was on the field in the Packers' season-opening loss to the Saints was foreign to Finley.

"The Aaron Rodgers I know — he comes out shooting and playing his best offense in Week 1," Finley said in an interview with TMZ Sports.

As such, Finley drew a conclusion after seeing Rodgers throw for just 133 yards and two interceptions. Rodgers' offseason drama with the Packers has taken its toll, as has his 17-year NFL career.

"Aaron Rodgers looks tired," Finley said. "If you had the hoopla offseason like Aaron Rodgers had this offseason — I bet the guy is tired. I bet the guy probably don't want to play football anymore."

So what would Finlay do at quarterback? He's not ready to pull the plug on Rodgers after just one game, but he thinks the team should be ready to insert Jordan Love if things continue to go awry.

“If you don’t see it, let’s go to Love,” Finley said.

TIMELINE: Recapping Aaron Rodgers' drama with the Packers

Specifically, Finley thinks the Packers should give Rodgers the first quarter of the season. If he can't turn things around through Week 4, then he believes it's time to go to Love.

That doesn't mean that Finley believes Love will turn the Packers around. In fact, he said it would be "a miracle" if Love was able to do so. But if Rodgers is no longer the answer, Finley sees no point in the team waiting to see what they have in Love.

“You’ve got one of the highest-paid backup quarterbacks sitting right behind Aaron Rodgers, so you might as well utilize him and get him going for the future,” Finley said.

Love is listed as the ninth highest-paid backup QB as far as average annual salary, per OverTheCap.com.

PACKERS VS. LIONS: Odds, prediction for MNF

Of course, this could be an overreaction from Finley. After all, the Packers have played only one game to date and will have a chance to bounce back on "Monday Night Football" against the Lions. Green Bay certainly could turn things around.

Still, Finley has his doubts about the season.

"They don't look like the Packers," Finley said. "I don't think they're going to have a good year this year."
