If anyone had money on Bengals-Dolphins being one of the chippier games of 2020, they'd be rich. And while there were penalties and ejections noted by the officials, one action may have been missed.

Late in the second quarter, Bengals' safety Shawn Williams stepped on the leg of Dolphins offensive lineman Solomon Kindley. Based on the sequence shown on the CBS broadcast camera, it appears possible that Williams intentionally stomped his foot on Kindley's leg while the lineman lay prone on the ground.

Here's the footage:

Williams (No. 36) initially stumbles over Kindley (No. 66) while falling over a pile of players. The first contact is definitely innocent. But the second step, when Williams puts his left foot right where his hands had just been on Kindley's leg and appears to step down with his full weight, is questionable at best.

Because seemingly no one has directly asked Williams, there's no way of knowing his true intentions. But after the step on Kindley, Williams went with the look-away approach, as if he hadn't just stepped on another individual, which would often result in a quick turn around to see who you'd stepped on. Kindley also entered Sunday's game dealing with a nagging foot injury, for whatever that's worth.

Williams was later ejected from Sunday's game in the fourth quarter after instigating a conflict with DeVante Parker, who also was ejected (along with Mack Hollins).

A bit before Williams stepped on Kindley, the conflict between the teams started with a slapping match between Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd and Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard. Both were ejected for throwing punches, although whether their actions could be described as punching remains an open question.

It's not clear as of Monday morning whether any players from Miami's 19-7 win over Cincinnati will receive further punishment from the NFL after their various actions during Sunday's feisty contest.
