Antonio Brown hasn't officially re-signed with the Buccaneers despite the two sides reportedly agreeing to a deal in late April.

However, it doesn't appear that the hold-up in signing a contract is anything serious.

As detailed by Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians in a recent appearance on the Pewter Report Podcast, Brown is dealing with a knee injury that requires surgery. It's not a major one, but it's enough of an issue that he wouldn't pass a physical with the team right now.

“He has to pass the physical,” Arians said. “Hopefully we’ll have a scope on Tuesday, he’s getting his knee cleaned out, and everything will work out fine. It’s just a matter of a physical.”

So, it sounds likely that the Bucs will have Brown officially under contract in the near future. And Arians confirmed that was something he wanted to happen all along.

"We wanted AB back," Arians said. "He was a model citizen the whole time he’s been here. We wanted him back and he’s never had surgery in his life. It’s just a matter of [getting a] physical done. I wanted him back the whole time."

Provided that all goes well with Brown and he does return to the team, the Buccaneers will have their entire starting lineup from their Super Bowl-winning team returning in 2021. That's a level of continuity that is unheard of and should make Arians' squad a threat once again.

And between Brown, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Cameron Brate, O.J. Howard, Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones and Giovani Bernard, Tom Brady will have no shortage of weapons to target during his Age 44 season.
