Former Austin Peay defensive back Juantarius Bryant thought he was going to get a shot to practice in front of the Falcons, only to find out the offer was a hoax.

Now, he's going to get his shot to try out in front of NFL teams after all.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Bryant has been invited to the HUB Football tryout on May 23, an event that will include a number of NFL teams in attendance to watch free agents practice.

Bryant explained on Saturday in a tweet that he had been called by a number with the Atlanta area code and that the caller pretended to be Dean Pees, the Falcons' defensive coordinator. He said he went to the Falcons' facility on May 12 for what he believed was a rookie minicamp, only to find out that the offer was false.

"Just want to apologize to everyone and the Atlanta Falcons organization for the mix up. I honestly thought it was a legit opportunity on my end," Bryant wrote in his tweet.

Bryant was a former walk-on with the Governors, according to his Twitter profile, and a team captain. At Austin Peay, he quickly established that he was going to make an impact on the team. He started eight games and appeared in all 12 as a redshirt sophomore in 2017 and had the fourth-most tackles on his team at 65. As a redshirt junior, he was named second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference and as a redshirt senior in 2019, he earned first-team honors.
