Tebowmania takes Jacksonville.
Tim Tebow, college football icon, NFL washout and former New York Mets outfielder, is reportedly going to sign a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Tebow's impending Florida return reunites him with Jags head coach Urban Meyer, alongside whom Tebow won two national championships with the Florida Gators.
The move is the latest in an offseason of Jaguars organization remodeling moves for Meyer; Tebow is expected to sign and make the switch to tight end, as opposed to quarterback, which is what he played in college and during a short stint with the Broncos when he was drafted in 2010.
In a spell with the Jets in 2012, Tebow was targeted just one time, with a Mark Sanchez pass ricocheting off of Tebow's helmet.

Tebow hasn't donned shoulderpads since 2015, when he was cut by the Eagles in the preseason. Tebow's latest sports venture came in the Mets minor league system, trying to break into the majors as an outfielder. (It didn't work out.)
While there (probably) won't be a quarterback controversy in Jacksonville with Trevor Lawrence given the keys to franchise, the move in itself was fairly controversial, and the NFL world responded appropriately:

Hard to believe with skills like these that Tim Tebow isn’t coming back as a QB pic.twitter.com/2mONLlmRPY— NOTSportsCenter (@NOTSportsCenter) May 10, 2021
All jokes aside. Why is Tebow back in the NFL. There's no proper explanation for this. Dude hasn't seen the field in the regular season in 8 years.— Geoff Schwartz (@geoffschwartz) May 10, 2021
