U.S. men's national team defender DeAndre Yedlin has arrived in Newcastle ahead of a move from Tottenham Hotspur, according to ESPN FC.
Yedlin, who plays in the English Premier League, spent last season on loan at Sunderland. He returned to Tottenham this season, but reports claim he is close to finalizing a $6.6 million transfer fee with the Magpies, who were relegated to the Football League Championship after finishing in the bottom three last season.
Despite performing well with Sunderland last season, Yedlin found himself behind Kyle Walker and Danny Rose in Tottenham's pecking order. The 23-year-old will now try to help Newcastle United earn a spot back in the EPL.
When the move becomes finalized, Yedlin will be coached by Rafael Benitez, who has managed the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
