Coutinho's rocket goal propels listless Liverpool to victory in EPL opener

With Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling gone, Liverpool was in for a interesting EPL opener against Stoke. Through the first 80 minutes, the boys from Anfield looked out of sorts and void of an identity, despite a roster filled with the likes of Cristian Benteke, Daniel Sturridge James Milner and Simon Mignolet.

But then, in the 83rd minute, Brazilian striker Philippe Coutinho decided to take matters into his own hands — err, feet.

Liverpool held on for the 1-0 victory and while the performance wasn't ideal, the result — the three points — was all that mattered.
